The Royal Wedding Schedule & Coverage Broadcasts

Whether you are in London to watch the Royal Wedding or not, you will be able to catch the wedding coverage either live on a big screen near you, online or on your television or radio set.  Here’s an idea of what will be happening and when on Friday 29 April …

6.00 am – The area around the wedding procession route closed to the public

9.00 am – Guests start to arrive at Westminster Abbey

10.10 am – Prince William and his best man Prince Harry leave Clarence House for Westminster Abbey

10.50 am – Catherine Middleton and her father Michael leave The Goring Hotel for Westminster Abbey

11.00 am – The wedding service begins and the bride makes her way down the aisle

12.15 pm – Prince William and Catherine Middleton leave Westminster Abbey as a married couple and travel along the wedding procession route to Buckingham Palace

12.40 pm – Champagne Reception hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace

1.30 pm – Balcony Kiss and RAF flypast

2.00 pm – Wedding procession route re-opened

7.00 pm – Dinner hosted by the Prince of Wales

Coverage of the Royal Wedding will be led by UK news broadcasters BBC, ITN and Sky News.  The BBC will be in charge of the cameras inside Westminster Abbey.  Hundreds of other cameras will be positioned along the wedding procession route.

Here’s a selection of what to watch and when:

BBC 1

From 8.ooam with Huw Edwards and on the street with Fiona Bruce, Sophie Raworth and Fearne Cotton – just to name a few.

BBC2

Catch the highlights from 9.30pm

BBC Radio

Presenters James Naughtie and Edward Stourton will lead the coverage, along with Vernon Kay and Scott Mills on Radio 1, Chris Evans and Ken Bruce on Radio 2 and Victoria Derbyshire and Richard Bacon on Radio 5 Live.  Fearne Cotton will host a special Radio 1 show live on Thursday 28 April.

BBC America

Broadcasting live at the same time as BBC 1 in the UK.

ITV (ITN)

From 6.00am with Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley in the studio with Kate Garraway reporting from Bucklebury.  From 11.00am with Julie Etchingham and Philip Schofield from outside Buckingham Palace.  James Mates outside Westminster Abbey and, Alastair Stewart, Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale from the crowds.

Sky News

Broadcasting from 6.00am with Eamonn Holmes and Sarah Hughes outside Buckingham Palace.  Kay Burley reporting from Westminster Abbey.

CNN

A whole day of International Royal Wedding coverage with Piers Morgan, Anderson Cooper and Kiran Chetry, with Cat Deeley reporting from the crowds.

Fox

Broadcasting from outside Buckingham Palace will be Shepard Smith, Martha MacCallum, socialite Plum Sykes and former Butler to Princess of Diana, Paul Burrell.

ABC

Live coverage from 4.00am with Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters, followed by a West Coast edition of Good Morning America, with Robin Roberts reporting live from WeAbbey.

France2

Coverage all day long, with a focus on the Royal Wedding fashion and guests.
